How To Find Joy When Life Feels Like It’s On Cruise Control

Do you ever find yourself just going through the motions? Like we’re living each day on autopilot mode?

You’re sitting in a meeting going, “Why am I even here?”

You’re putting food on the dinner table and you’re just annoyed by how repetitive everything is.

I have a trick to help you snap out of that feeling of repetitiveness and ground yourself.

This tip also makes you more productive.

State the intention of what you’re doing before you do it.

Before you walk into that meeting, tell yourself “I’m here to learn this,” or “I’m here to teach others that.”

State that purpose before you go into the meeting.

Before you put the food on the table, say “I am going to use this time to nourish these babies,” or “I’m going to use this time to connect with my kids.”

State the intention of what you’re doing before you do it.

Stating the intention before you take the action helps to center you on why you’re doing the thing.

That ultimately makes you more productive because you realize if you don’t have an intention for doing something, you no longer need to do it.

If something does not bring you value, you need to either delegate it or eliminate it from your life.

If you don’t have an intention of doing something, you no longer need to do it.

Take Action

This is my key to thriving in life and finding more joy in motherhood: State the intention before I take action.

It takes practice. It’ll take some time. But when you make that mindset shift, you’re going to be happier.

And when you’re happier, your families are happier, your workplace is more profitable, and your communities get better.
