The Biggest Myth That’s Stealing Your Sanity

Hey, mama. If you’re reading this between meetings, Slack pings, school pickups, or while microwaving that third cup of coffee… breathe. You’re not alone.

I’m currently writing this from a hotel room while traveling for work. My inbox is overflowing, my notifications are nonstop, and yes, I’ve already had two cups of coffee and it’s not even 10 a.m.

But amidst the chaos, I had a moment — the kind that stops you in your tracks and makes you go: “Wow. I used to believe something that really held me back.”

And I want to share that with you.

The Misconception That Cost Me My Sanity

For the longest time, I believed that to be successful — especially as a working mom — I had to do it all. Every task, every chore, every meeting, every extracurricular bake sale… all on me.

I leaned into that belief hard. And I wore my exhaustion like a badge of honor. But here’s the truth I wish someone had told me sooner:

One of the common misconceptions that was my downfall: “You need to do it all to have success!”

You do not need to do it all to be successful.

In fact, trying to do it all is the fastest way to burn out, resent your calendar, and lose your spark.

What You Actually Need to Do

You don’t need to do more. You need to do more of what matters.

And that means getting real about two things:

  1. What’s worth your time and energy
  2. What can be delegated or dropped altogether

Some things truly move the needle, and some things just keep you busy. The trick is knowing the difference. That’s where so many working moms (my past self included) get stuck. We think, “If I don’t do it, it won’t get done.”

But that’s a lie — and a harmful one at that.

How to Stop Doing It All (And Still Thrive)

If you’re nodding along but thinking, “Okay, but how do I figure out what to keep and what to ditch?”, I’ve got you.

In my book, The Savvy Working Mom, I walk you through frameworks that help you simplify your life, prioritize what matters, and create space for both success and sanity.

These aren’t one-size-fits-all tips. These are real-life-tested tools that work no matter what kind of work you do — corporate, creative, caregiving, or all of the above (because let’s be honest, many of us wear all those hats).

You Deserve More Than Survival Mode

This is your permission slip to let go of the myth.
To stop measuring your worth by how much you can carry.
To make room for things that light you up, not just check off a list.

You can be a successful working mom without doing everything. You can have a thriving career, a happy family, and even (gasp!) a little joy for yourself.

Let that sink in. Let it guide your next decision. And if you’re ready for practical support, grab your copy of The Savvy Working Mom — because it’s time to stop surviving and start thriving.
