Knowing what we want and believing we can have it are the first steps in creating a life we love. While knowing what we want and believing we can have it seem simple, they can prove very difficult to achieve. Yet, you can’t skip over them, and there are no shortcuts.
Here is where visualization can help.
While it might seem tricky, it doesn’t have to be. To help you figure out what you want, take each area of your life, and create 3 separate scenarios. Imagine them happening. Imagine it vividly. What does it feel like? Of the 3 separate scenarios which excites you the most? This is where you should focus your energy.
If you can see it you can achieve it if you can’t, you won’t, it’s that simple.
I want to focus on visualization because, as a busy mama, it can be easy to see what we want for everyone else, but not for ourselves.
It can be effortless to see the future we want for our kids, to see how we want our job to progress, what we want for our company and our teams. Yet, at the same time, what we want for ourselves can be a hard thing to conjure up. Here I have a few steps to help you figure out how to do just that.
Step One is to take each area of your life and create three future scenarios for it. Areas such as your career, your marriage, your motherhood, your social life, your personal development, and then write down three different future states for what that could look like. Then, step two, take time to visualize these future states.
Visualize them one at a time. As you think through them, some are going to excite you and some are not. Once you find the one that excites you, that’s it! That’s what you want in life and that’s what you need to focus on.
There you have two steps to visualize what you want in life. Once you know it, then all you need to do is work towards having it. Easier said than done. A lot of these things are easier said than done, but if you don’t know what you want, it will be impossible to achieve a life you love.
Take some time today to visualize each one of the areas of your life, how you’d love to see them, until you find a visualization that excites you. Then once you’re excited, you are ready to go onto the next step, which will be starting to plan goals.
