How To Create a Strong Morning Routine

Are your mornings chaotic, flustered, and unorganized? Do they deflate you rather than pump you up for the day? This is no bueno! Mornings set the tone for your day. So the best way to have a smooth morning or at least one where you feel some semblance of control, a level of contentment, maybe even pride and accomplishment, is to have a strong morning routine. A strong morning routine can be the firm foundation from which you launch your day. Here are a few tips on creating a strong morning routine.

Wake Up At The Same Time

Wake up at the same time every weekday, don’t worry; you can sleep-in on weekends because we all need that sometimes.

Wake Up Before The Kids

Get up and out of bed before the kids. Even if it is only 5-10 minutes before the kids, treat yourself to this time.

Do Not Look At Your Phone

DO NOT look at your phone first thing in the morning. Do not become a slave to your device.

Time Of Reflection

When you first get out of bed, take a moment to reflect on what you’re grateful for in your life. Your health, the health of your children, your wonderful children, your relationship with your partner, that you have a job – think of all things big and small and express gratitude.

Think About Your Goals

Then take some time to think about what are your goals, your big goals in life. What is it that you want out of life and imagine having achieved those goals – whether it’s a promotion, having a close relationship with your kids, or having a family vacation. Think about your big goals, the things that you are working towards.

Write Down The Most Important Thing You Need To Do That Day

What is the most important thing that you need to accomplish that day? Write it down.

That’s it. That is a morning routine that will help set a solid foundation for you, and it takes less than five minutes.

Bonus

If you have more than five minutes, here are a couple of additional tips.

Hydrate

Drink a big old glass of water because your body needs it. Your body will thank you for this, and your skin with absolutely glow.

Move With Intention

Some people call this exercise. It doesn’t have to be a full-on sweat. It could be yoga. That’s what I do each morning. I stretch my body, which helps activate my circulation, waking me up and preparing me for my day. Your body needs to wake up just like your mind does. Suppose you can get in a full workout that is great too. What’s important here is not the intensity level but rather the act of moving.

Do Something You Love

Take a minute each morning to do something wonderful for you. Whether it’s reading your favorite book, watching a funny show, looking at cat videos on the internet, calling a friend, write a loved one a letter, send a friend an email, knit, crochet, paint. Do that thing in the morning for a little bit while you have some quiet time.

Take Action

Today’s take action is to start your morning routine tomorrow, BUT begin mentally preparing for it TODAY. The above tips for setting a strong morning routine will seriously be the foundation for a great day. Just remember that this is a practice. You have to do it over and over again until you are good at it. Don’t worry if you get very distracted at first or can’t seem to finish the morning routine. It’s okay. Just keep trying. And with each time you try, you’re going to get a little bit better, and your days will get better, leading you to live a life you love.
