When I first went back to work after having my baby, I expected it to be hard. I thought I was prepared. But the truth?
It hit like a freight train.
I remember sitting there thinking, “What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I figure this out?” I had the planner. I had the systems. I had the work experience. But somehow… it still felt like I was drowning in invisible weight no one else could see.
So I did what I always do when I hit a wall—I started talking to other women. I’d say, “Hey, I’m struggling,” and what I got back was a chorus of “Me too,” or worse, “Well, yeah. What did you expect? You have a kid now.”
Ugh. Not helpful.
We Should Be Talking About This
That’s when it clicked. This isn’t just me. This isn’t just you. This is us.
Smart, ambitious, high-achieving women who suddenly feel like we’re failing at everything. We love our families. We love our work. But holding it all together? It’s exhausting.
I realized something in those raw conversations with other working moms: we’re all trying to push forward with strategies that no longer serve us.

When you start to feel overwhelmed with what you need to accomplish on any given day or week, whip out the matrix and fill it in. Focus on the urgent and then the important.
The Rules Changed—But No One Told Us
See, in the corporate world, there’s a truth we don’t talk about enough:
What got you from individual contributor to manager won’t get you from manager to director. You have to evolve.
Same thing with motherhood.
The systems, the habits, the hustle that got you to where you were pre-kids?
They won’t sustain you once you’re raising a human and trying to keep your career (and sanity) intact.
I had to unlearn what wasn’t working. I had to stop trying to “power through” with old tactics. And when I finally gave myself permission to pause and figure out what actually works in this new season of life, that’s when everything shifted.
I Found My Joy Again
Not overnight. Not magically. But piece by piece, I built a life that I genuinely enjoy.
✅ I stopped trying to do it all.
✅ I started delegating more at home and work.
✅ I redefined success on my terms.
✅ I made space for peace and joy without sacrificing ambition.
And guess what? My career started growing again, too.
Let’s Figure It Out Together
This is why I wrote the book.
Not because I had it all figured out—but because I figured it out the hard way. And I want it to be easier for you.
So if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or wondering why your old rhythm suddenly isn’t working anymore, let me tell you this:
There’s nothing wrong with you.
You’re not failing.
You’re just ready for a new way forward.
And I’ve got you.
