Something Is Better Than Nothing: One Mindset Shift for a Better Mom Life

When I was in my 20s, I had an “All or Nothing” mentality.

It served me for a while, and it got me to where I’m at in life. But what I realized is that ‘all or nothing’ is not the way to go anymore.

Here is a mindset shift that’s helped in my self-care routine.

We’re not 22 years old anymore. Now, something is better than nothing.

When it comes to working out, if I can’t work out for 60 minutes, that’s cool.  A 10-minute walk around the block is awesome.

Can’t save $1,000 a month? That’s cool. $10 is literally better than saving nothing, right?

Something is better than nothing.

Something is better than nothing.

This is true with your self-care, too, so here are some easy self-care tips.

If you can’t take a whole spa weekend, can you upgrade your lotion to that body butter you’ve always wanted to try?

If you can’t escape for a retreat, can you take five minutes and close your eyes and visualize what it would be like to be someplace warm, comforting, and cozy? That is better than doing nothing.

Something is better than nothing when it comes to self-care, especially for us moms.

Those little things are going to have massive rewards when it comes to how you feel and your ability to show up as your best self.

Take Action

Write down three things that you can do in five minutes or less, to take care of yourself.

Maybe it’s doing some deep breathing, sitting out in the sun just for a moment, or writing a card to a friend and putting it in the mail. Those activities always make me feel better.

Write down three little things that you can do to take care of yourself because remember, something is better than nothing.

Those little things are going to have massive rewards when it comes to how you feel and your ability to show up as your best self.

If you are taking good care of yourself, your family’s happier, your place of work is more profitable and your community gets better. The world gets better when you can show up as yourself.

Self-care is not selfish, mama. Do something to take care of yourself.
