Hey Mama,
If you’ve ever tried to “balance” your life as a working mom, you already know the truth: balance is a lie. It’s a Pinterest-worthy myth that sets us up to feel like we’re failing before we’ve even had our second cup of coffee.
I used to chase it, too. Right after I had my first son, I was obsessed with finding that perfect blend—equal parts career, motherhood, marriage, self-care, friendships, laundry (ha!), and maybe even a hobby if I was really ambitious.
Spoiler alert: it didn’t work.
I kept trying to keep all the balls in the air, but instead of juggling, it felt like I was drowning. And that’s when it hit me—I don’t need balance. I need a better metaphor.

Start saying no a lot more if I wanted to say yes to the things that would move the needle for me.
🎶 Enter: The Symphony.
Now, I see my life as a symphony. Every part—work, family, love, my own needs—they’re all instruments in the same song. Some days, the cello (hi, career!) is front and center. Other days, the flute of motherhood sings the loudest. Sometimes, let’s be real, the drums are just chaos, and someone spilled yogurt on the sheet music.
But here’s the thing: a symphony isn’t always perfectly harmonious. There’s discord. There are loud moments, quiet ones, even parts that make you wince. But it’s still music. It’s still your music.
🎻 So what does that look like in real life?
- It looks like choosing which instrument gets the spotlight today—and being okay when the others play backup.
- It looks like accepting the off-notes instead of pretending they aren’t there.
- It looks like embracing the fact that your life won’t always be “balanced,” but it can be intentional, beautiful, and deeply, uniquely yours.
If you’re a working mom trying to do all the things, I want to invite you to stop aiming for perfection and start listening for your rhythm.
Let your life be music.
Let it be messy, beautiful, a little out of tune, and completely, unapologetically you.
Because the magic isn’t in hitting every note perfectly. It’s in showing up, embracing the chaos, and conducting your own damn symphony.
🎵 Now take a breath, mama. The music’s already playing. Keep going.
