Hey mama, let me tell you one thing I seriously wish I’d known sooner.
You don’t have to do everything to succeed.
In fact—brace yourself—trying to do everything is exactly what’s holding you back.
Yep. That spinning-wheels, drowning-in-to-dos, permanently-behind feeling? It’s not because you’re not doing enough. It’s because you’re doing too much—and too much of the wrong stuff.
So if you’re sitting there thinking, “I’ve got so many things to do, but I can’t seem to get anything DONE,” this one’s for you.
Enter: The Not For Me To Do List.

This is a tool I swear by—and it’s saved my time, my energy, and honestly, my sanity. I talk all about it in my book The Savvy Working Mom, but here’s the short version:
What is the Not For Me To Do List?
It’s exactly what it sounds like. A list of things you are not going to do.
These are the tasks, requests, distractions, and “maybe one day” ideas that don’t align with your goals, your energy, or your priorities right now.
And when you intentionally say, “This is not for me to do,” you create space—for the work that really matters. For rest. For your family. For joy.
Here’s Why It Works:
- You stop being everything to everyone.
Spoiler alert: You were never meant to be. - You get clear on what actually moves the needle.
No more busy work disguised as productivity. - You reclaim your time, energy, and power.
Because doing less doesn’t mean failing. It means focusing.
How to Start Your Own “Not For Me To Do” List:
- Write down everything on your mental to-do list.
All of it. Even the stuff that’s been haunting you for weeks. - Go through and ask yourself: Does this align with my priorities right now?
If the answer is “no” or “not yet,” move it to your Not For Me To Do List. - Give yourself permission to let it go.
Not forever. Just for now. - Keep it visible.
Your Not For Me To Do List should be as front and center as your to-do list.
This simple shift is a game changer for working moms who are overbooked and overwhelmed—and ready to actually get things done without burning out.
So, if you’re ready to stop spinning and start moving forward with intention, I invite you to check out The Savvy Working Mom. Inside, I go deeper into this and other tools that will help you spend your time and energy in ways that truly serve you.
Because guess what?
You deserve success and sanity.
Let’s make space for both.
